Sherman Collins
Sherman Collins, Jr (born c. 1973 in Birmingham) is an insurance agent and property manager.
Collins grew up in Birmingham and attended Birmingham City Schools. He earned a bachelor's in business administration at Samford University and worked in banking and insurance. He owns Scollin and Associates insurance agency and NewComers Reality property management. He is also a basketball coach for the Birmingham Storm and active in scouting and at 23rd Street Baptist Church.
Collins and his wife, Katrina, have three children: Lauryn, John and Tyler.
Collins is a candidate for Birmingham Board of Education District 1 in the 2013 Birmingham municipal election. His campaign focused on improving student performance and closing the system's "achievement gap" compared to other school districts. He was critical of the current board for its failures and the threat of losing accreditation.
