Wilson recalled here as a "scalawag of the first order" who terrorized the area and blew up a blast furnace during "the last days of Reconstruction" was actually Gen. James H. Different historical information
This 1937-04-08 article in the Birmingham Age-Herald gives a slightly different account of Elyton and additional info: says it was founded in 1812 when Mr. Ely arrived, was only incorporated as a city from 1907-1010, mentions the first schoolhouse, first courthouse and judge, different date for the first church, lists the first white children born (both before and after it was called Elyton), etc. Earthsound (talk) 15:21, 27 April 2016 (PDT)
