Tony Christon-Walker is a the former director of prevention for AIDS Alabama and co-founder of Birmingham Black Pride.

After Sheila Tyson resigned from the Birmingham City Council in November 2018 to be sworn into the Jefferson County Commission, Christon-Walker was one of sixteen applicants for the vacant District 6 seat. Crystal Smitherman was appointed. In the 2021 Birmingham municipal election Christon-Walker qualified for the District 6 seat on the Birmingham Board of Education, but withdrew. Leticia Watkins won that election.
