UAB Hospital is comprised of various entities located in the Birmingham Medical District. The Emergency Department is the only hospital in Alabama currently designated as a Level 1 Adult Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons, and it is a regional referral center for head trauma, spinal cord trauma, burns, and other serious conditions.
