William Chambers

William Nugent Chambers (born May 8, 1912 in Birmingham, died June 17, 1997) was an architect and partner in the firm of Greer, Holmquist & Chambers.

Chambers earned his bachelor of architecture at Auburn University in 1935. He went to work for the Farm Security Administration in 1936. He joined Dupree Greer and Walter Holmquist in a new architecture firm in 1938, but left to serve in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Europe from 1941 to 1946. He returned to the partnership after the war, and also remained with the Reserve Corps, where he rose to the rank of Colonel.

Chambers also served on the Vestavia Hills Board of Zoning Adjustment and as president of AIA Alabama in 1960-61. He resided at 453 Sunset Drive.
