2007 SEC Baseball Tournament

The 2007 SEC Baseball Tournament was held on May 23-27, 2007 at Regions Park. The Vanderbilt University Commodores won the tournament with 4 straight victories after an opening round loss. This was the tournament's 10th consecutive year in Hoover and was played before crowds totaling 87,893.

Games

Round 1

The first round was a sweep in favor of the underdogs:

  • Game 1: #2 seed Arkansas defeated #7 seed Alabama 6-0.
  • Game 2: #3 seed Vanderbilt defeated #6 seed Florida 4-3 in 12 innings.
  • Game 3: #8 seed Tennessee defeated #1 seed Vanderbilt 6-4.
  • Game 4: #5 seed Ole Miss defeated #4 seed Mississippi State 3-1.

Round 2

  • Game 5: Florida eliminated Alabama with a 3-2 win.
  • Game 6: Vanderbilt eliminated Mississippi State with a 3-2 win.
  • Game 7: Arkansas defeated South Carolina 6-0.
  • Game 8: Ole Miss defeated Tennessee 6-3.

Round 3

  • Game 9: South Carolina eliminated Florida with a 5-3 win
  • Game 10: Vanderbilt eliminated Tennessee with an 15-2 win

Round 4

  • Game 11: Arkansas eliminated South Carolina 3-2.
  • Game 12: Vanderbilt defeated Ole Miss 13-1 in 8 innings.
  • Game 13: not necessary
  • Game 14: Vanderbilt eliminated Ole Miss with a 7-6 win in 10 innings.

Final

Vanderbilt defeated Arkansas 7-4 in front of 7,263 fans to earn the SEC Championship. The Commodores' Pedro Alvarez drove in 8 runs during the tournament, including two home runs to earn the title of the tournament's Most Valuable Player.
