"Black Man Self Love" is a painted mural on the side of Sonya Faye's Tailor & Clothier at 1709 3rd Avenue North in Birmingham's Central City. It was painted by Erica Chisolm in July 2022 as part of the HBCU SpringComing with help from Sub Urban Creative and support and assistance from Urban Impact and building owner Sonya Faye Gardner.
Chisolm's concept for the mural was to make a statement about the common idea that, "men don’t receive their flowers until they die," by communicating the importance of celebrating strong successful men during their lives. The mural includes portraits of Maleake Kersh, Dave Walker III, and Giani Martin in shades of black, brown, orange and yellow against a sky blue background and surrounded by red roses.
