A new school building was completed in 2010, using funds from a $1 billion bond issue supported by a 1¢ increase in Jefferson County sales taxes proposed in 2005 by then-Jefferson County Commission president Larry Langford.

Brighton's athletic teams are called the Bears, and the schools colors are maroon and gold.
