Douglas Wright "Doug" Jones (born January 8, 1957; died May 20, 2016) was the chief of the Helena Police Department from 2004 to 2015.
Jones was the son of Percy Wright and Mattie Melba Davis Jones of Helena. He joined the Helena Police Department around 1981 and then worked his way up in rank. He headed up the city's first K-9 unit. He later served as lieutenant over the patrol division and then lieutenant over investigations. He was promoted to chief in 2004 and served in that position over ten years until retiring in September 2015 citing health concerns.
Jones was survived by his brother; his wife, Melissa Davenport Jones; two sons; and one step-son.
