Hodges Cemetery

Hodges Cemetery is a family cemetery dating back to 1887 and located on Hodges Cemetery Road on land owned originally by W. L. Hodges in Mount Olive, near the border with Brookside.

Documentary history suggests that as many as 135 graves are located in the cemetery, though only 35 are now marked. The condition of the cemetery is threatened by recreational ATV riders and other trespassers. Its future is uncertain due to unclear records of land sales and the fact that it is surrounded by developable land.

Kathy Young of Argo, a descendent of Mr Hodges, is currently caring for the cemetery and researching ways to ensure its preservation.
