The Howard L. and Martha H. Holley Lectures: New Testament Voices for a Contemporary World in Honor of Dr. William E. Hull is an endowed lectureship that brings noted scholars to Samford University each fall to address a topic related to the New Testament of contemporary theological and social issues. It was established in 2005 in honor of Dr. William E. Hull. The honoree, Bill Hull, gave the first set of lectures. He had served Samford as provost from 1987 to 1996, and as theologian-in-residence at Mountain Brook Baptist Church from 1991 to 2013. The lectures were endowed by the Holley family in honor of their parents Howard L. and Martha H. Holley.

The lectures are offered by the Department of Biblical & Religious Studies and were overseen by Dr. Jim Barnette from their inception until 2019 and thereafter by the chair of the department.
