Neverthirst

Neverthirst, Inc. is a non-profit charity group that develops clean water resources in developing nations. Its offices are located at 1111 Edenton Street, off Cahaba Beach Road in unincorporated Shelby County.

It was founded in 2008 by Spencer Sutton after he returned from a trip to the Sudan. It takes its name from a passage in the Gospel of John: "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life."

Sutton was joined by Forrest Walden in establishing the organization, which raises funds from individuals and churches, mainly in the Birmingham area. Before moving to its present location, its offices were at 1919 Oxmoor Road in Homewood.

The group's first well was drilled in the village of Witto, Sudan. By 2019 Neverthirst had completed more than 13,000 water projects in nine countries. That April Matt Letourneau took over as executive director.
