Search for Freedom: A Novel of the South is a historical novel by social activist Caroline Ballin set in 1930s and 1940s Alabama, primarily in Birmingham. It was published in 1966 by Citadel Books.
The plot involves contemporary efforts toward improving the welfare of African American citizens before the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s and 1960s. The story centers around a young white girl who comes of age torn between two societies.
