Snitz Snider Stadium
Snitz Snider Memorial Stadium is a public stadium at 915 4th Avenue North in Bessemer. it was built with city funds in the 1920s and hosted its first football game in November 1935.
The stadium was used as the home field for Jess Lanier High School's Purple Tigers football teams until Bessemer City High School opened in 2010. It was named in honor of former Jess Lanier coach Snitz Snider in 1972, and became a memorial to him after his death in 1977.
Snitz Snider stadium has also served as the home field for the Marvel City Tiger of the Gridiron Development Football League.
The facility, owned by the Bessemer Board of Education, continued to host youth league football games until 2015, but due to its deteriorating physical condition and the lack of funds for maintenance and repair (or even for demolition), the property was put up for sale in late 2016.
