Southern Accents was a bimonthly lifestyle magazine published by Southern Progress, a division of TIME, Inc. The publication was founded in 1977 by WRC Smith Publishing Co. of Atlanta, Georgia and was purchased by Southern Progress in 1985.

The magazine focused on upper bracket homes and gardens, entertaining, travel, fine arts and antiques. At its peak it claimed nearly 3 million readers. At the end of 2008 the magazine reported just over 400,000 paid and verified circulation.

Southern Accents was shut down after the September/October 2009 issue. During the first six months of that year its advertising revenues had fallen by 32%, more than any other Southern Progress publication.

Departments

Cottage Living featured several regular departments, including "Accents On" and "The Color You Need Now" on interior decorating, "In Season" covering gardening issues, "Educated Eye" guidance on antiques, "Food with Julia Reed" on food preparation and culture, and "City Notebook" with travel suggestions.
