Stanley Oliver
Stanley Oliver Sr (born June 28, 1950, died September 27, 2015) was the chief of the Alabaster Police Department from 2001 to 2012.
Oliver met his wife, the former Laura Miller, when she transferred to Thompson High School. The two married in 1972.
On February 29, 1989, Oliver was shot, but recovered.
In April 2001, Alabaster Police Chief Larry Rollan was reassigned to strictly administrative duties while the Alabama Bureau of Investigation (ABI) investigated the department at the request of Mayor David Frings. Then Captain Oliver was assigned to supervise the day-to-day operations of the department. Rollan retired shortly thereafter and Oliver was officially awarded the chief position in October.
Oliver's law enforcement spanned more than 40 years before his retirement on October 1, 2012. He and Laura had four children: Farrah, Stan Jr, Jonathon, and Michael, and several grandchildren.
