Susil Rupasinghe

Susil Rupasinghe (born May 18, 1952 in Puwakpitiya, Sri Lanka; died September 29, 2020 at UAB Hospital) was a businessman and owner of the Marathon Oil gas station and convenience store at 1084 Forestdale Boulevard.

Rupasinghe was one of nine children born to Sugathadasa and Gnanathilake Rupasinghe. He graduated from the Royal College, a private school in Colombo, in 1971, and worked for Huejay International Pvt. Ltd., an exporter of flowers and spices for three decades before emigrating to the United States in 2003. He was married to the former Nalini Gunaratne Jayathilake and had two children, Nipuna and Diluni.

Following a dispute with a customer on October 14, 2019, Rupasinghe followed her outside and she struck him with her car. He was hospitalized for nearly a year before succumbing to his injuries in September 2020. Renadia Sheree Duncan was arrested and initially charged with attempted murder. After his death, the charge was upgraded to murder and affirmed by a grand jury.
