Name

  • My information on the name seems uncertain. The Birmingham Historical Society newsletter says it was built in 1926 and named for the BBOE member who donated the site. However the Birmingham De Luxe Book shows a school built by the town of Woodlawn as "Gibson School" on a different site. If I had to guess, I'd say that both were named for the same man, who was a supporter of Woodlawn schools before 1910, and that he was inclined to donate the new site in part because his name was on the school being relocated. I hate to guess, though, and I'd be interested to find out why the school was relocated. --Dystopos 09:12, 8 March 2008 (PST)
