The Retreat at Mountain Brook (formerly Sharpsburg Manor and The Enclave at Mountain Brook) is a 50-acre, 770,000 square foot apartment complex located at 4816 Sharpsburg Drive in Irondale, bordering Mountain Brook.

The complex was the site of two homicides in 2009 and 2011, both of which were carried out by police officers; one from Brighton and one from Birmingham.

The complex was purchased by California-based Heller Stone Properties in 2013 for $24 million. The new owners acquired three adjoining smaller properties, including two four-unit apartment buildings, a convenience store, and a nursery school, and combined them into a comprehensive $15 million project to renovate the interiors and exteriors of all the units.

The completed complex includes 517 units ranging from 1 to 3 bedrooms and averaging 1,500 square feet. The nursery school and convenience store were demolished, with a community garden taking part of the space. New landscaping, fountains and street lighting were installed. A new 2,200 square-foot leasing center, designed by Cohen Carnaggio Reynolds and built by Arlington Construction was added in 2016. The owners also plan to explore the possibility of future neighborhood retail development at the site.
