Yerkwood is an unincorporated community and former mining camp located south of Dora and northwest of Quinton on County Road 81 in eastern Walker County. It was established by Frank Nelson's Nelson Coal Company, which was renamed the Burnwell Coal Company. The mine was later acquired by the Pratt Fuel Corporation.

While the mine was in operation, the community was run as a company town, with workers paid in scrip which could be redeemed at the company-owned commissary.

Currently the community is served by a Yerkwood Volunteer Fire Department, and MyPark, a non-profit outdoor recreation area developed by Bret Griffin.
