The Hood-McPherson building (Ensley) is a 4-story, 33,750 square-foot commercial building constructed by the Hood-McPherson Furniture Co. at 1811 Avenue F in downtown Ensley in 1926.
When 50 by 150 foot brick-clad steel and concrete store was constructed, it was Ensley's tallest building. It was designed by Brooke Burnham and included electric freight and passenger elevators, thermostatically-controlled steam heat, and a ladies' restroom on the mezzanine. The Davis Company constructed the building, with E. A. Mandy & Sons as the plumbing subcontractor.
