Some open projects worth consideration:
Announcements
- There is a small, almost useless, stub of a style guide at BhamWiki:Style. In most cases, anything intelligible goes and Wikipedia remains a model.
- A new category branch is under construction for Category:Works by year which will be the parent of the existing Category:Buildings by year and also handle articles about books, artworks, significant recordings and other notable creations.
Needed articles
- Municipalities: Re: List of Municipalities in the Birmingham District (with articles for each, using census data)
- Birmingham schools, Jefferson County schools, etc. (with articles for each school, stubs if need be)
- Articles on all Birmingham City Council members and everyone on the List of Mayors of Birmingham
- List of Railroads operating in the Birmingham District
- Articles for each entry in the List of Birmingham neighborhoods
Maps
- Generate aesthetically pleasing non-copyrighted maps for various topics
- Develop a template that puts a non-obtrusive "locate on map" button on article pages that opens a new Google Map window.
- Possibly develop Google Earth layers for certain categories or lists (homicides, meat and threes, wallace rayfield buildings...).
Timelines
- Begin creating articles for decades and years with links to specific topics
Portals
- Eventually, I'd like to see subject-specific portals for BhamWiki, consisting of an introductory page with links to main articles, categories, lists, etc. These would be called BhamWiki:Architecture, BhamWiki:Arts, BhamWiki:History, BhamWiki:Music, BhamWiki:Sports, etc.
There could also be regional portals, such as BhamWiki:Bessemer or BhamWiki:Shelby County.
