-'''The Bank''' is the original name of [[Superior Bank]].  In [[1997]], [[The Banc Corporation]] acquired [[Warrior Savings Bank]] of [[Warrior]] and [[City National Bank]] of [[Sylacauga]].  Once these banks were merged the name was changed in [[1998]] to The Bank and the headquarters were moved to [[Downtown]] Birmingham after a major renovation to the [[John A. Hand Building]].  The Bank acquired banks across Alabama and Florida, but by [[2004]] the board of directors brought in a new management team, led by [[C. Stanley Bailey]].  Bailey and his team were mostly former executives at the Arkansas-based Superior Federal Bank which was acquired by Arvest Bank.  The '''The Bank''' name was changed to Superior Bank in January [[2006]].
