William Crawford Gorgas Elementary School (also called East Thomas School) was an elementary school in the Birmingham City Schools system located at 930 21st Avenue West in Thomas.
The school was renamed for army physician William Crawford Gorgas in 1925. A new building was completed in 1926 at a cost of $53,373.
A one-acre strip of the school property was sold to the Alabama Highway Department in 1963 for right-of-way for the proposed east-west freeway.
