John N. Lauriello is a founding principal in the real estate firm Southpace Properties.
Lauriello holds a bachelor of arts in economics from UAB. He founded Southpace with Bill McDavid in 1984 and led its growth to become the largest independent commercial real estate company in Alabama. Lauriello has guided the firm's dedication to restoring and redeveloping historic buildings in downtown Birmingham.
In 2001 Lauriello was one of 16 plaintiffs in a suit protesting the Birmingham City Council's re-naming of 21st Street as Richard Arrrington Jr Boulevard. During the 2007 Birmingham mayoral campaign Lauriello was critical of the slow pace of the city's participation in urban redevelopment.
