TV Alabama tower
The TV Alabama tower is a 2,000 foot-tall guyed television mast located off of Alabama State Route 69 near Windham Springs, in Tuscaloosa County. It was built in 1996 for the western area broadcast of WBMA-TV (ABC 33/40).
In 1995 WCFT-TV in Tuscaloosa and WJSU-TV in Anniston were purchased by Allbritton Communications of Arlington, Virginia, under its TV Alabama subsidiary, and made simulcast partners of the low-powered, Birmingham-based W58CK-TV. The "trimulcast" arrangement, marketed as ABC 33/40, debuted in 1996 and WCFT's call letters were changed to WBMA-TV in 1997.
The tower currently simulcasts WTTO-TV as WDBB-TV (virtual channel 17, UHF digital channel 14) and the "Heroes & Icons" network on WSES-TV (virtual channel 33, UHF digital channel 36).
