The Edward T. Douglass Nature Trail is a half-mile-long wooded trail the runs along the banks of the Black Warrior River at Moundville Archaeological Park in Tuscaloosa County. First developed in the 1970s, a 1,200-foot boardwalk was constructed in 1984 to make it easier to traverse the sometimes-rugged terrain.
The boardwalk deteriorated and was closed in 2001, then was further damaged by Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita in 2005. It remained closed until 2009 when it was rebuilt by an AmeriCorps team from Denver, Colorado.
