Sayre Revitalization Corporation

The Sayre Revitalization Corporation was a non-profit organization set up to benefit residents of the town of Sayre, a former mining community in northwest Jefferson County.

The Corporation received a $7,500 grant from the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham to fund their empowerment program. More significantly, it was named as a beneficiary, to the tune of $1.7 million, in the estate of philanthropist Marie Ingalls who died in June 2004. The estate was disputed in probate court, in part because Bonnie Roberts, who was connected to the Sayre Revitalization Corporation, was the wife of the executor.

Lawyers for Ingalls' relatives in their investigation, and the Birmingham News, in following up on the dispute, were unable to contact representatives for the Sayre Redevelopment Corporation, which had last filed financial disclosures in 2003.
