2006 Birmingham homicides

This is a List of murders in Birmingham in 2006. It will include homicide cases occuring within the city limits during the calendar year. Birmingham had 105 homicides in 2005, 64 in 2004, 108 in 1997.

Deaths can be classified as homicides if they come at the hands of another, intentional or not. Vehicular accidents are usually only classified as homicide if intentional.

Shelby County had 6 in 2005, 4 in 2004, 5 in 2003, 5 in 2002, and 6 in 2001.

1. January 1: Byron Wilson, 33 of Bessemer found in SUV at Cedar Tree Apts, 1532 17th St S (Southside) (1)
2. January 2: Deborah Robertson, 33, stabbed at 1107 47th Pl N (2)
3. January 4: Man's body found in vacant lot in 7400 block of 67th St S (Gate City) - unclassified death
4. January 11: Joe Farmer, 56 (homeless) found wounded from blunt trauma in 14th St N on Jan 3, dies at hospital
5. January 18: unidentified woman found drowned in Westover area, suspected homicide
6. January 22: L'Oreal Nichole Bussey, 27, found shot at 829 28th St SW Birmingham. Michael James Mays suspected.
7. January 22: Reginald Matthew Taylor, 29, shot in southwest Birmingham. Michael James Mays suspected.
8. January 22: third body found
9. January 23: Antonio King, 21, shot by 71-year old grandmother in yard of 500 Princeton Ave.
10. January 28: Leonard Mixon, 33, shot in 500 block of 36th St N. Neikro Hurst of Bessemer charged.
11. Februrary 9: John Howard Hill, 20, found in front yard in Adamsville
12. Februrary 21: Willie James Simon, 27, found shot at house in 5700 block 15th Street, Libscomb
13. Februrary 22: Anthony Sanderson, 39, shot on January 19 outside 777 Arcade (17)
14. March 4: Steven Hines, 24
15. March 10: Charlotte Diane Holt, 46 of Warrior, found at Anchor Hotel, 8420 1st Ave No, East Lake
16. March 10: John Oliver, 53, found on sidewalk 1200 block of 14th Ave S.
17. March 11: Infant Dominic Ware, 1, found in home at 4800 block of Avenue O, Ensley. Jorge L. Carter charged (22)
18. March 22: Alan Potts, 55, found shot in restaurant, 3813 Clairmont (Forest Park-South Avondale)
19. March 28: Taurus Frost, 22, found shot in Impala parked at abandoned house in Ensley (24)
20. March 31: Timothy Woods, 45, stabbed by wife, Angela, 3000 block of 29th Avenue North. (25)
21. April 3: Infant Dakota Jackson (3 mos) killed at 718 Attalla Place in Wylam. Mother is suspected. (26)
22. April 6: Austin Mayfield, 20, of Gardendale killed during robery at 3100 block Warrior Road. Trio charged.
23. April 7: Leviticus Campbell, 17, found on 6800 block of Higdon Road (Woodlawn/East Lake)
24. April 11: Man found dead of gunshot wound on 1100 block of 2nd Court West (RisingWest Princeton)
