"Moon Over Homewood" is a novelty song written and performed in 1982 by WYDE-AM disc jockey Jack Voorhies.

Voorhies and his on-air partner, Steve Christie, had been discussing the plight of Homewood residents, forced to look up at the bare buttocks of the Vulcan statue on Red Mountain. They wished he could be mounted on a lazy Susan to share the ignominy.

The song's chorus is:

"Moon over Homewood; It's so unrefined

We have to get mooned with the Vulcan's behind
Moon over Homewood; We don't think it's fair

That we have to look at his big derriere"

Voorhies also wrote a follow-up, "Funds for Buns" as a theme song for a fictional "Homewood Ladies League For Decency" campaign to provide Vulcan with more modest clothing.
