The 1985 Alabama State Fair was a State Fair held October 3-13, 1985 at the Alabama State Fairgrounds.

The Birmingham Humane Society and other animal rights activists protested the booking of "Tim Rivers' Original High Diving Aqua Mules" show from McIntosh, Florida for the fair's grandstand. Animal cruelty officer Bill Carter of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department investigated and found no evidence of mistreatment of the seven mule performers. Birmingham City Council president John Katopodis asked the city to investigate, but no action was taken.
