The 2006 Birmingham Barons opened their 2006 campaign on April 6 with a home game against the West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx. The Barons compete in the South division of the Southern League along with the Jacksonville Suns, Mississippi Braves, Mobile BayBears and Montgomery Biscuits. They play their home games at the Hoover Metropolitan Stadium. All games are broadcast on 101.1 FM "The Source" called by Curt Bloom. This marks the Baron's 21st season as the Chicago White Sox AA affiliate. They are playing for a Southern League record 7th consecutive playoff berth.
