The Alabama Magic were a professional football team which were a part of the American Football Association for a single season in 1982. All home games in Birmingham were played at Legion Field. Two home games were played in Anniston and Selma respectively. Finishing their lone season with a 6-4 record, the team was under the ownership of a local group called Deep South Sports Projects, Inc. with Steve Patten serving as head coach.

History

In February 1982, it was announced that Birmingham would field an expansion team in the AFA for the 1982 season. After seeing moderate successes on the field, the team would fold due to poor attendance and the arrival of the Birmingham Stallions for the 1983 season.
