Allen Barra

Allen Barra (Born in Birmingham, Alabama) is a sports columnist for the Wall Street Journal and Salon.com. He regularly appears on Major League Baseball Radio.

Barra graduated from Mountain Brook High School in Mountain Brook, Al and from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).

Barra’s work has appeared in various alternative publications, including The Paperman, The Birmingham Reporter, the Southsider, Boz Art, Creative Loafing, Blue Note, Southern Style, Fun & Stuff, the Birmingham Weekly and Weld.

He is the author of multiple books, including Rickwood Field: A Century in America’s Oldest Ballpark, The Last Coach and Yogi Berra: Eternal Yankee.

He is a resident of South Orange, New Jersey.
