The Bessemer City Council is the legislative body for the city of Bessemer, with offices in Bessemer City Hall.

The current council representatives are:

Davidson is the Council President, and Belcher is the President Pro-Tem. Myra Armstead is the Council Secretary.

2006 election

On August 22, 2006, Bessemer voters went to the polls to decide three council seats. All three races went to runoffs on September 12. In District 2, Louise Alexander kept her seat with 620 votes to Clinton Harris, Sr's 409. In District 5, Albert Soles defeated Margie Varner 444 to 343. And in District 7, Earl Cochran successfully challenged incumbent LaBrenda Marshall, 487 to 368. The new Council will be sworn in October 1, 2006.
