Shelburne was the second child and only daughter born to Kingman Cody Jr and Cathy Shelburne.  She grew up in [[Homewood]].  Her first experience in broadcasting was hosting ''[[Kidsworld]]'' at age 11 on [[WVTM]].  She graduated from [[Homewood High School]] in [[1992]].  She then attended [[Auburn University]].  During that time and after, she spent some time in New York City.  One of the things she did there was to intern in the Executive Producer's Office at the ''Late Show with David Letterman''.  She graduated from Auburn with B.A. in Mass Communication and Journalism in [[1996]].

Beth Shelburne

Beth Shelburne (born October 8, 1974 in Birmingham) is an anchor and reporter for WBRC 6.

Shelburne was the second child and only daughter born to Kingman Cody Jr and Cathy Shelburne. She grew up in Homewood. Her first experience in broadcasting was hosting Kidsworld 13 at age 11 on WVTM. She graduated from Homewood High School in 1992. She then attended Auburn University. During that time and after, she spent some time in New York City. One of the things she did there was to intern in the Executive Producer's Office at the Late Show with David Letterman. She graduated from Auburn with B.A. in Mass Communication and Journalism in 1996.

Shelburne began her broadcasting career as a news producer at WVTM in Birmingham. She then got her first reporting job in Florence, Lauderdale County. While there, she had to shoot and edit her stories herself.

Shelburne then worked her way up to successively bigger television markets as an anchor and reporter. In 1999, she began working for WTVA, an NBC affiliate in Tupelo, Mississippi. In January 2000 she moved to WFTX, a Fox affiliate in Fort Myers, Florida. While working for WFTX, she won an Edward R. Murrow award for writing on a series of reports she filed in Manhattan shortly after the 9-11 terrorist attacks.

In September 2002 she moved to KFMB, a CBS affiliate in San Diego, California, to co-host the three-hour morning show and the one-hour noon news program. She later moved from the morning news show to the 4:00 p.m. newscast. While at the station, she won a regional Emmy award for best breaking news coverage for her work during the devastating 2003 southern California brush fires. She also won a San Diego Press Club award for a feature she did on a self defense program for women.

After four years on the West Coast, Shelburne became a primary anchor for the New England Cable News (NECN), an NBC cable channel based in Boston, Massachusetts in 2006. In addition to co-anchoring the evening newscasts, she also hosted New England Dream House for the channel. Finally, after four years in New England, she returned home to the Birmingham area as reporter and anchor for the 9:00 and 10:00 p.m. newscasts at WBRC in September 2010.

Shelburne and her husband have a daughter.
