Ryan and Geri-Martha O'Hara founded Big Spoon Creamery in 2014, selling their small-batch, artisan ice cream out of an old-fashioned ice-cream trike before adding a truck in early 2017. The couple met working together at Bottega cafe, in Birmingham.
The small-batch artisan ice cream company expanded into a full-fledged shop when Big Spoon Creamery opened its first storefront in Avondale’s MAKEbhm building. The ice cream shop opened in April of 2017.
