The Birmingham World Trade Center is an organization that plans to serve as a Birmingham affiliate of the international World Trade Centers Association.
Birmingham began working with the business consultancy Adah International to explore the feasibility of establishing a World Trade Center. On June 6, 2017 the Birmingham City Council approved a resolution authorizing the city to apply for a license. That license was granted in July.
Since then, the Birmingham World Trade Center has set up offices in the Forum Building at 950 22nd Street North in the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex headed by senior consultant Kirk Atkinson. Public funding and grants to support staffing and operations are being sought.
