The City National Bank of Birmingham was a bank which opened on January 18, 1965 in the newly-renovated City National Bank Building (the former Empire Building) on the northwest corner of 1st Avenue North and 20th Street in downtown Birmingham.
The full-service bank offered personal and commercial checking accounts, 4% interest on savings accounts, personal and commercial loans, safe deposit boxes, and financial counseling services. The officers included president George Murphree, vice president Hugh Morrow III, and cashier Hap Taylor Jr.
The bank was renamed Colonial Bank of Birmingham with the acquisition of the Exchange National Bank of Birmingham in 1982.
