Coosa Valley Academy is a private Christian school located on Park Street in Harpersville teaching 3-year-old kindergarten through high school. It opened in 1970.

Shelby Academy's athletic teams are called the "Rebels" and wear red and white. The school fields teams for football, cheerleading, basketball, baseball, softball, track and field and power lifting. Vince DiLorenzo is the football coach as of 2009, succeeding Stephen Mackin. Bobby Hughes was named the baseball coach in 2009.
