Covenant Presbyterian Church (founded October 1, 1978) is a member congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America located at 65 Old Montgomery Highway in Homewood. Founder Bill Hay is the senior pastor; most of the founding members were formerly affiliated with Edgewood Presbyterian Church, also in Homewood.
Pastor Hay led Covenant Presbyterian's first services at the Reid Chapel on the campus of Samford University beginning in 1978. It joined the PCA's Evangel Presbytery on March 4, 1979 and purchased a 9-acre site on the corner of South Lakeshore Drive and Old Montgomery Highway a few months later. The church held its first services in their new sanctuary in 1981. After years of growth, the church dedicated a new larger worship center on April 7, 1996.
