Craig Smalley is dean and rector of the Cathedral Church of the Advent in Birmingham. He was named dean and rector in May 2022 after a one-year search during which he served as interim dean and rector. He was formally installed by Bishop Glenda Curry on August 18, 2022.

He had served as a canon at the Advent since 2006. Prior to this, he served as rector of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Vestavia Hills from 2001 to 2006.

He graduated from the Citadel in 1990 and received the M.Div. from Virginia Theological Seminary in 1995.
