Dick was an Eastern diamondback rattlesnake (Crotalus adamants) on exhibit at the Avondale Park Zoo in the 1920s. The Eastern diamondback is the largest species of rattlesnake. However, though the Birmingham Post reported his length as 8 feet, no living specimen that size has been scientifically documented.
