Earl J. Cochran Sr is the District 7 representative for the Bessemer City Council. Cochran was elected to the post in 2006.

Cochran, a life-long Bessemer resident, worked for Bristol Steel and later Premiere Chevrolet before retiring. Cochran earned an accounting degree from Lawson State Community College, and also earned certificates from Booker T. Washington Business College and Birmingham Baptist Bible College. In 2002, he ran unsuccessfully for the Bessemer Board of Education.

Cochran's son, Earl Cochran Jr, is a professional football player.
