Zeiger was a graduate of [[Auburn University]]. He came to Samford in [[1956]] as a business manager and assisted in the university's move from [[East Lake]] to [[Shades Valley]]. He was made vice-president for financial affairs in [[1968]] and athletic director in [[1969]]. He retired from Samford in [[1984]], but continued to work as general manager for [[Jetco]], a fixed base operator at the [[Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport|Birmingham Airport]]. He was a licensed pilot and taught ground-school courses for [[Samford After Sundown]].

H. Evan Zeiger Sr (born c. 1921 in Gadsden; died August 30, 2009) was a long-time vice president of financial affairs and athletic director at Samford University.

Zeiger was a graduate of Auburn University. He came to Samford in 1956 as a business manager and assisted in the university's move from East Lake to Shades Valley. He was made vice-president for financial affairs in 1968 and athletic director in 1969. He retired from Samford in 1984, but continued to work as general manager for Jetco, a fixed base operator at the Birmingham Airport. He was a licensed pilot and taught ground-school courses for Samford After Sundown.

Zeiger died in 2009. He was survived by his wife, Gene, 5 children, 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. After a funeral service at First Baptist Church of Pell City he was buried in Langdale Cemetery (Chambers County).
