Homage to Leonardo: Vitruvian Man

Homage to Leonardo: The Vitruvian Man is a bronze sculpture of Leonardo Da Vinci's drawing of the "Vitruvian Man", the figure whose proportions are inscribed within a square and circle after the Roman architectural theorist Vitruvius.

The bronze figure, standing within its 108-inch diameter circle, is the work of Italian-born British sculptor Enzo Plazotta, who died in 1981 before it was finished. It was completed in an edition of nine castings in 1982 by Plazotta's studio. The Birmingham sculpture was donated by Mr & Mrs John M. Harbert and is displayed outside the Medical Forum at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex. Another copy is displayed in Belgrave Square in London.
