Jared Weinstein

Jared Weinstein (born 1980) was special assistant to President George W. Bush, from June 14, 2006 until the president's term ended on January 20, 2009.

Weinstein, son of Steve and Brenda Weinstein, members of Birmingham's Jewish community, is a 1998 graduate of Mountain Brook High School. He enrolled at Duke University to study public policy. He spent the summer of 2000 in Austin, Texas, interning with the Bush campaign. In 2001 he and one of his classmates at Duke secured a $15,500 grant to help fund Durham, NC's inner-city youth baseball league.

After graduating Duke in 2002 he took a job in the scheduling office at the White House. In the fall of 2003 he became Chief of Staff Andrew Card's personal assistant, staying on when Card left to assist his replacement, Joshua Bolten. When the Presidential special assistant job came open, he did not apply, but was recommended by Card for the $95,000 a year job shadowing the President.

After President Bush left office, Weinstein served as Deputy Chief of Staff in the Office of George W. Bush in Dallas, Texas. He is now enrolled at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
