John Green

John Green (born 1977 in Indianapolis, Indiana) is a writer, best known for his 2005 juvenile novel, Looking for Alaska.

Green grew up in Florida, but moved to Alabama to complete school at the Indian Springs School. Indian Springs is fictionalized as "Culver Creek" in Looking for Alaska. After he graduated from Kenyon College in Ohio, Green worked as a chaplain at a children's hospital.

He then worked as a reviewer for Booklist magazine in Chicago, Illinois. He has also written for National Public Radio's All Things Considered and for Mental Floss magazine. Green and his brother, Hank, undertook a project to communicate with each other for a year solely by publicly-posted YouTube videos. The "Brotherhood 2.0" project lasted from January 1 to December 31, 2007.
