Kingston marijuana farm

The Kingston marijuana farm was an illegal hydroponic marijuana farm located inside a warehouse in the Kingston neighborhood of Birmingham's East Birmingham community. The warehouse was leased under the pretense of warehousing discount store goods by Daniel Rosser and Steven Sartino. After a two month investigation Rosser and Sartino were arrested by Jefferson County Sheriff's Office deputies.

More than 500 marijuana plants and $75,000 in cash were seized in a raid on the warehouse which took place on October 9, 2008. The farm is believed to have been created in 2005.

The growers used hydroponic farming techniques to produce marijuana with high levels of THC. Ultra-violet heat lamps were timer-controlled to simulate sunlight and vessels with clay-pellet ballast supported the plants, which were fed in water. As the plants grew they were moved from room to room for individualized care. Harvested plants were dried on site for processing and distribution.
