Larry O. Gay

Larry O. Gay (born c. 1956) is an amateur freelance photographer in Bessemer with an extensive portfolio of photographs of Birmingham assembled during days off from his full-time job as a crane operator at CMC Steel Alabama.

Gay graduated from Jess Lanier High School and studied commercial art at Bessemer State Technical College. He found a passion for film photography there and began spending his weekends driving around the region, mostly photographing old buildings. As downtown Birmingham became more lively in the 1990s he began to extensively document public events and street life.

Since 2002 Gay has maintained several websites to display his photography online.

Gay's photographs were exhibited in the 4th floor gallery at the Birmingham Public Library in the spring of 2006.
